Hello, my name is Bahar Heidari,
My name is Bahar Heidari, and I have over 15 years of experience in counseling and as a licensed psychotherapist (CBT). My career ranges from working in primary care, where I met patients with mild to moderate mental illness, to being active in social services as a social worker, family counselor and family advisor.
My work experience also includes the role of Curator at ASIH in palliative care, where I supported and had crisis interventions with patients and their relatives. My knowledge spans areas such as life crises, trauma, neuropsychiatric diagnoses, addictions, psychiatric diagnoses and integration issues. I have a deep understanding of psychosocial issues affecting people and have worked in multicultural settings as well as with individuals in vulnerable situations.
I strongly believe in each individual's inherent potential for development and change. Over the years, I have seen tangible progress in my clients, which confirms my belief that every individual can achieve positive change. My mission as a CBT therapist is to support and guide you in developing effective strategies to manage and overcome discomfort.
My interventions have been particularly focused on managing and overcoming anxiety, depression, worry, stress, trauma, fears, phobias, grief and life crises. By creating a safe and supportive environment, I have helped them to explore and understand their feelings and develop tools to promote their mental health. My experience spans different areas of psychological well-being, and I always aim to tailor my interventions to meet each individual's unique needs and goals.
In 2000, I began my journey in psychodynamic counseling, a training that focused on personal development. Although I appreciated this orientation, I felt that my knowledge was incomplete. This led me to seek new paths, and in 2006 I took the step into Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), where I started to work with my first clients in talk therapy under supervision.
In 2013, I continued my professional development and obtained my Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) qualification. This decided extension and deepening of my knowledge gave me a more comprehensive understanding of human psychological well-being. The constant pursuit of development and new knowledge has been a central part of my professional journey and has shaped me into the therapist I am today. I am convinced that this continuous quest for improvement is essential to offer my clients the best possible therapeutic experience.
Motivation
Growing up, I was characterized by difficulties and challenges. Where I grew up, everyday life was not always easy, and I experienced war and other trying situations. During my teenage years, I moved to Sweden and it was the start of a journey that would change my life and shape my future.
In Sweden, I found not only a new place to live but also an opportunity to transform my experiences into something meaningful. My desire to help others in difficult situations emerged, and I realized that I wanted to become a psychotherapist to make a difference in people's lives.
However, becoming a therapist did not just mean learning the theory and methods. To be able to help others in an authentic and empathetic way, I had to go through a profound process myself. I needed to explore my thoughts, feelings, and the difficulties I had experienced. It was a challenging but necessary journey to understand myself and create a solid foundation to support others.
Facing and processing my own experiences has given me a unique insight and understanding of the struggling souls I now meet in my work as a psychotherapist. My journey has given me the tools to make a meaningful connection with others, and I hope to be a source of support and change for those who need it most.
