Background

I finished my degree south of London in 2016 and have worked for years counselling students at college in the UK.

I have been an expat for 25 years split between Canada, Holland and the UK. This means I know firsthand how it feels to be far away from home and perhaps feeling like you do not quite fit in. Culture is such a big ingrained part of who we are and living away from home can at times feel both confusing, depressing and lonely. 

I offer therapy for male and female clients from the age of 16 and cap at around 50 - please don't hesitate to contact me if you fall outside these age groups as I am always happy to have an initial conversation to see if I can help. 

As I am trained as a person-centered counsellor I will not be offering advice - that is not my job. Being a person-centred counsellor I believe that you are the specialist/expert of your life. This means I will listen, question and support you and together we'll then find a way for you to go forward - stronger and hopefully with a better sense of who you are and who you want to become. 

I have also trained in London at the Institute of Gestalt and I often use tools from this therapy as well. 

I worked in Hospice for years in both Canada and the UK as a counsellor and family volunteer which means I am able to support around grief, loss and illness. 

Motivation

I know first hand that there is a need for international counsellors in Copenhagen and I am very happy to help fill the gap. 

Oftentimes it is assumed that everyone knows how to speak english and therefore should be able to provide international counselling - however, being trained in the UK and considering english to be my first language (I only speak english at home with my family and have done so for over 30 years) I know how important it is that the words flow freely and naturally when being in a counselling relationship.

No one should ever have to sit around feeling sad, lonely, anxious, depressed, confused, wrong or angry. I am here to listen, support and help you if you are feeling any of the above emotions - or any other kind of emotion that troubles you. 

Together we will look at how to change this situation and although I cannot promise you that you will feel better fast - I can promise you that sharing your thoughts will help you feel less alone.
