Expertise

    Background

I work with young adults, adolescents and families and help them to understand and cope with a range of experiences related to anxiety, depression, relationships, transitions and other life stresses.  I also specialise in working with Eating Disorders and have had extensive training and experience in this area. I use a cognitive-behavioural approach, combining acceptance-based strategies, mindfulness, and goal-oriented techniques. CBT is a highly effective, research-backed style of talk therapy that emphasises the role of cognitions in mental health. During our sessions, I will actively listen to your concerns, and teach you skills that will help you cope with your stress, meet your goals, and improve your outlook. This type of therapy is focused on solving problems and reducing and managing distressing symptoms brought about by anxiety, depression, or the stress of daily life.

I have worked with children and young people and their families for over twenty five years, having worked in the US mental health system and for the NHS in the child and adolescent mental health service.   I studied Child and Young People Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at UCL in London and am a clinical social worker by background, having trained in the United States.

My approach is interactive, warm and non-judgemental. I look forward to working with you. Please email or call to schedule an appointment.

I am registered with the British Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapists (BABCP). I am a recognised provider for major Insurance companies, including BUPA, AXA, Vitality, Cigna and WPA.
