I am Marie-Louise Devitt, an MBACP registered counsellor in Cheshire, UK. I have over 14 years of experience working therapeutically with people from all cultures and backgrounds. In the past, I have worked in young people's mental health services, private practice and as an Employee Assistance Therapist.
I have experience in working with a wide range of concerns and mental health issues. Still, a few examples are low mood, anxiety, relationship issues, grief/loss, parenting concerns, work-related stress and life changes. My counselling approach is integrative, cognitive-behavioural, solutions-focused and compassion-based. And I focus on you the client and work collaboratively with you to meet your specific goals in therapy.
Motivation
I was motivated to become a counsellor as I have always had that internal drive to support people. When I started studying psychology in university I came across Carl Rodgers "Person Centred Approach to Therapy" and I was hooked. I love what I do, and I value to fact that I can support people to find more positive and self-supporting ways to navigate their lives.
