Psychopath test

Here you can do a self-test to help you reflect on personality traits that may be associated with psychopathy.

Meet our therapists

Psychopathy is a disorder characterised by a lack of empathy, manipulative behaviour, irresponsibility and impulsivity. People with psychopathic traits may have difficulty feeling guilty, exploit others for their own gain and have a tendency to violate social norms. In psychology and criminology, psychopathy is described as a particular type of personality trait or pattern of behaviour. The diagnosis used in healthcare is antisocial personality disorder, but not all people with psychopathic traits fulfil all the criteria for diagnosis.

This self-test is inspired by Hare’s Psychopathy Checklist-Revised (PCL-R). The test is not a substitute for a professional diagnosis, but can give an indication of whether you have certain traits of psychopathy which can be a guide for you to seek more help. The test takes about 5 minutes to complete.

What should I do if I have symptoms of psychopathy?

If the results raise questions and your symptoms affect your functioning in areas such as work and relationships, it is recommended that you seek professional help for a more comprehensive evaluation. A psychologist or psychiatrist with experience in personality disorders can help.
